The Stevens family has a lawmaker legacy in Alaska; Senator Ted Stevens (R) is the longest serving Republican in the U.S. Senate and his son Ben served as the president of the Alaska State Senate. Their legacy may be in for a bit of tarnishing however, as a wide-ranging corruption investigation touches them both.

More is coming out on the this story about Alaska State Senate President Ben Stevens (son of Sen. Ted Stevens) and allegations of bribery on the part of Alaska-based VECO Corp. Turns out the CEO of the company was seen passing notes in to legislators he'd given campaign cash to in the middle of a vote on a key oil bill, "directing traffic" on the vote.

Ben Stevens, Alaska State Senate President and son of Ted Stevens, the Senator (of the legendary "bridge to nowhere project") who put the secret hold on the transparency bill mentioned earlier this week, had his office raided by the FBI looking for information on ties between him and an Alaska oil company that gives big bucks to campaigns.
