For a few congressmen booted out in 2006 amid charges of corruption, nothing says "turning over a new leaf" like taking high-powered lobbying jobs with people you used to help steer money too. Former Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA) and former Sen. Conrad Burns (R-MT) who found themselves embroiled in corruption scandals last year have both landed jobs as lobbying advisors with groups they had a history of helping financially.

Greg Gordon at McClatchey is reporting that the Justice Department has opened an investigation into possible wrongdoing by Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA) used his influence on behalf of clients of his daughter's lobbying firm - two Russian businesses and a Serbian group tied to Slobodan Milosevic.

It's a tough job market out there. You have to put on your heavy suit and pound the pavement...unless of course you're friends with Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA) who can get you a job with one of his high-powered campaign donors, or perhaps lobbying for clients he's done favors for.
