Scott Brown holding fundraiser with financial industry lawyers

We reported recently that Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) held a cocktail party fundraiser with Wall Street lobbyists not long after big banks declared war on the candidacy of Brown’s possible opponent, consumer advocacy Elizabeth Warren.

Public Campaign Action Fund has gotten hold of another fundraising invite for Brown (embedded at the bottom of this post). He'll be taking cash at a Boston law firm that counts banks and other Wall Street companies as clients.

Here's a recap of Public Campaign and Public Campaign Action Fund's (PCAF) work from October 17 through October 21, 2011.

Supercommittee Co-Chair Offering Season Pass for $5k

Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), the co-chair of the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction, will be holding a fundraiser for his JEBFund leadership PAC on Tuesday with Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio).

According to Politico Influence, $5,000 will get you “admittance to all 2011 JEBFund events.”

That’s right ladies and gentleman, for the low, low price of $5,000 you too can have a season pass to the supercommittee co-chair.

Kerry Keeps His Word

A man of his word. The third quarter fundraising totals for members of Congress have been released, and records show that supercommittee member, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) has kept his pledge to give up fundraising for himself while the deficit commission conducts its work.

Freshman GOPers a Quick Study in D.C. Fundraising Culture

"They might be rookies, but freshman Republicans are becoming Washington fundraising pros."

“If you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.”

That’s the message a prominent Washington, D.C. lobbyist told the New York Times today when asked what he’s telling his clients about how to influence the members of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, or “supercommittee.”

Sen. Toomey will not give up fundraising during supercommittee

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) was asked yesterday if he would join Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) in giving up fundraising for his own campaign while serving on the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction, or “supercommittee.”

“He currently does not have plans to cease fundraising,” his office responded.

In a Word: Huge!

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) released the congressional fundraising numbers for the first half of this year, and not surprisingly, they are huge.
