You're under investigation for abusing your position on the House Appropriations Committee...so you fire the people who investigate that very thing.  Such appears to be the strategy of Rep. Jerry Lewis.  He claims it was a "bipartisan" decision...but it wasn't.

The investigation into Rep. Jerry Lewis' mutually beneficial relationship with friend and lobbyist Bill Lowery is heating up, and AP profiles Lowery's aggressive tactics in lobbying the House Appropriations Committee Chair.

NBC is reporting that Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-CA) offered CEO Tom Casey a $14 million appropriation in exchange for campaign contributions and pressured him to hire a friend's lobbying firm.

Tuesday's Newsday article looked at lawmakers who became lobbyists - today Bloomberg looks at aides in the House Appropriations Committee who go to work lobbying the legislators they used to work for.
