The Plain Dealer is reporting that Will Heaton, Rep. Bob Ney's current chief of staff, and Paul Vinovich, Ney's former aide with the House Administration Committee have been subpoenaed to appear as witnesses in connection with the Jack Abramoff bribery investigation. According to the report: "at least one, Vinovich, is exercising his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and won't testify at a trial that started this week involving favors allegedly given by Abramoff to a former government official."

The trial is that of David Safavian, a former White House official who accompanied Jack Abramoff, Ralph Reed, Ney, former Ney aide Neil Volz as well as Heaton and Vinovich on a much-discussed golfing trip to Scotland in 2002 financed by Abramoff.

Over at TPM Muckracker there's speculation that Ney and perhaps Ralph Reed will also be called to testify at Safavian's trial.
