Congress' Big Oil AddictionSubmitted by Katie Schlieper on Thu, 09/14/2006 - 3:57pm.
Public Campaign Action Fund's Campaign Money Watch project has lauched two new ads, in Montana and Ohio, taking on Congress' addiction to Big Oil - more specifically, Big Oil's campaign contributions. The ads, which link big oil contributions and those politicians who take them, ask Congress to break their addiction and enact Clean Elections-style public financing.
Congress has taken few steps to address our looming energy crisis, in fact they continue to reward the oil industry even as it rakes in record profits. The oil industry gives big when it comes to campaign cash - and Congress is addicted, hurting our chances to kick our oil habit and enact new energy policy. Please sign our petition asking Congress to break its big money habit and enact Clean Elections-style public financing, so we can get policy that responds to the needs of citizens, not the needs of wealthy business interests.
If you're interested in learning more about the Congresswoman profiled in our Ohio ad, Rep. Deborah Pryce, and her connections to Big Oil's money, take a look at Bad Pryce, put together by Campaign for America's Future.
P.S. The ads were featured in this Great Falls Tribune article on the use of the video-sharing site YouTube to do political organizing. Katie Schlieper's blog | printer friendly version | 1804 reads
