Joel Bleifuss, editor of In These Times writes on the need for reform in Congress that takes on the fundamental link between campaign contributions and legislation: full public financing, in the Clean Elections model, for congressional elections.

He cites the support of 100+ members of Congress for public financing, and legislators in both chambers who are poised to introduce public financing legislation, put an end to legalised bribery and open the door to addressing pressing public policy issues free of the need to court and appease special interests in the name of campaign contributions.
