Caller On the Line

Public Campaign Action Fund is now Every Voice. Check out our new website:

Senator and presidential candidate Chris Dodd was on NPR's On Point last night for an extended question and answer session with callers primarily from Iowa and New Hampshire. Towards the end of the program, a caller from Ames, Iowa asked for Dodd's position on public financing of elections, in particular the Fair Elections Now Act sponsored by Sens. Dick Durbin and Arlen Specter. Listen to the clip here.

The caller, a Clean Elections activist and Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement member named Susan, asked Dodd to go beyond his public endorsement of public financing in general and state his specific position on FENA. Dodd said he would be an enthusiastic co-sponsor of the legislation; indeed he is a long-time supporter of this kind of policy.

We're pleased to hear Dodd affirm his support for the proposal, but we're even more pleased that Susan made the call and took the opportunity to put him on the record about the Fair Elections Now Act. Take your cue from her. We have the opportunity to put lots of candidates on record this election season -- let's use it!
