Big Money Mitch Launches

Today, Public Campaign Action Fund's Campaign Money Watch launched a new site aimed at educating voters about Sen. Mitch McConnell's (R-Ky.) opposition to campaign finance reform and his favors for campaign donors. For the next few weeks, we'll be posting stories highlighting some of McConnell's greatest hits. Today's piece talks about McConnell's opposition to reform."McConnell would have voters believe that his opposition to reform stems from a deep and principled belief in the First Amendment, but it is clear that McConnell’s real motivation is preserving his ability to extract massive campaign donations from big business. “I am going to teach you the three things you need to build a political party,” he once explained. “Money, money, money.”[6]  Since 1989, he has raised $30,516,911, with $10,743,065 coming from PACs and $738,000 coming from lobbyists.[7]  Two-thirds of the total has come from out-of-state donors. “He’s completely dogged in his pursuit of money. That's his great love, above everything else,” said Marshall Whitman, former lobbyist for Christian Coalition.[8] " Make sure to check out BigMoneyMitch.com and tell your friends!
