Politico reports that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent a record-breaking $34.7 million in lobbying expenses in the third quarter of 2009.
"The big-dollar expenditure is a stark illustration of the high stakes battle between the White House and Republican-leaning business groups over proposed new regimes in the fields of finance, health care and energy."
