The event called attention to the ridiculous amount of time that members of Congress spend dialing-for-dollars and attending $1,000 a-plate fundraisers, at the expense of addressing constituent concerns and working on legislation that benefits voters, not big money corporate donors. The Founding Fathers and the protesters in attendance urged members of Congress to declare independence from big money in politics by passing the Fair Elections Now Act (S. 752, H.R. 1826).
