Joe "I apologize" Barton stands up for oil companies again

Talking Points Memo reports this morning on an interview Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) gave to ABC News on Wednesday night. In the interview, Rep. Barton--who famously apologized to BP last summer--stands behind the billions in taxpayer money oil companies after being asked if companies like Exxon-Mobile should be getting them. "Over time if you put so many disincentives against any U.S. manufacturing or production company, or oil and gas exploration company, they'll go out of business," he said.

It should be no surprise to our regular readers, of course, that Rep. Barton has received $75,000 from Exxon PACs and employees during his time in Congress. He has received $1.5 million as a whole from the industry.
