Politico reports on a massive fundraiser Mitt Romney is having in New York City later this month, co-chaired and co-hosted by any number of Wall Street titans and wealthy New Yorkers, including at least six who have also donated to Romney’s “unaffiliated” super PAC, Restore Our Future. That's the same super PAC, of course, that just wiped the floor with Newt Gingrich in Iowa.
Eric Varvel, a co-chair, is the CEO of Investment Bank Credit Suisse. In February 2011, he donated $100,000 to the Restore our Future PAC.
Ed Conard, a co-host, was a managing partner at Romney’s former workplace Bain Capital. He was also the man behind the secretive $1 million donation to Restore our Future that was discovered last April.
Bill Harrison, a co-host, is the former chair of JPMorgan Chase. In January 2011, he gave $10,000 to Restore Our Future.
David Knott, a co-host, is the chief investment manager of Knott Partners. In March 2011, he gave $50,000 to Restore Our Future
Alex Navab, a co-chair, is a partner at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., a global investment firm. In June, he donated $100,000 to Restore our Future.
Marc Rowan, a co-host, is a founder of Apollo Global Management. In June, he donated $50,000 to Restore Our Future.
Other co-chairs, who had not donated to the super PAC through June 2011 (the last filing) include the CEO of oil giant Hess Corporation (John Hess), chairman of hedge fund Blackstone Group (Stephen Schwarzman), owner of the New York Jets (Woody Johnson), Ogivly Government Relations Chairman (Wayne Berman), and a few more assorted Wall Street types and others.
