The Obama campaign has famously pledged to not take any money from lobbyists, but that didn't stop Priorities USA, the pro-Obama super PAC, from taking in more than half a million dollars from a lobby shop that has that has worked on behalf of commercial banks. The Los Angeles Times reports that Priorities USA "accepted $500,000 from Perennial Strategy Group, which has lobbied for commercial banks and the MGM Mirage, among other clients. The Washington-based firm previously gave $100,000."
Two quick lessons to be learned: 1) the super PAC election culture we now live in, it seems, can turn even the most noble of pledges on its head. 2) Lobbyists will (always) find a way to inject their vast sums of money into our elections.
