Mitt Romney will attend a fundraiser in Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday at the home of Kate and Jim Sims, according to a report in the Vineyard Gazette. The event begins with a VIP reception for those who contribute or raise $50,000 for the campaign.

Mr. Sims had a more prominent role in Romney’s 2008 campaign, serving as national finance co-chair, but according to WBZ, "Sims, a multimillionaire, resigned after our I-Team discovered he is a serial tax-evader.”

More from WBZ:

“Until the I-Team called him, Sims owed more than $500,000 in back taxes in two states:

*$263,000 on his Boston mansion, dating back three years.

*$266,000 in back taxes on his California estate near Pebble Peach, dating back four years.

Sims paid these tax bills after being contacted by WBZ, but the damage was done, and he stepped down from his role on the campaign on the eve of the Super Tuesay primaries.

If you're headed to today's fundraiser, note that "Resort casual attire is requested."
