When the end of March rolls around it seems that everyone is focused on one thing - the NCAA's March Madness basketball tournament. Members of Congress are no exception - though many are using the event to rake in campaign cash.
With tournament rolling into Washington, D.C. next week, lawmakers have a chance to capitalize on the tournament's location. The Sunlight Foundation's Politcal Party Time (PT) reports that at least eight March Madness-themed political fundraisers are being held at the Verizon Center, and more parties are scheduled outside of the court.
As PT notes, "While recent studies show March Madness can lead to millions of lost dollars for businesses, PT's own investigation has shown that it can also lead to huge profits -- for lawmakers, that is."
