Give him (and me) a break

Obama needs that money in order to compete with the huge weight of the GOP and their supporters, just because money isn't given to the McCain campaign doesn't mean that all of his friends aren't spending millions on promoting him and putting Obama down. It's just not a fair fight.

As long as a corporation has the legal standing as a person, nothing will change. We have been trying to reform the process of electing our representatives all my life, and I am fifty-two years old,and the only change that has occured is business now totally controls government for their benefit and their benefit only.Sad but true. We have failed the founding fathers and ourselves by allowing this to happen.

Conservatives

"If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you, John McCain" is not a conservative, a real Republican, a real person, but is an incompetent, dishonest politician who is a crocked and crooked counterfeit who should retire to the Hanoi Hilton.

McCain has been bought and paid for by big oil

What happened to the "maverick"? Where'd he go??? I guess he's seen the light. Ever since he wanted to be president, he needed to learn who really runs the GOP. It's truely the party of the powerful. So McCain, desperate to win, is pandering to anyone and everyone who will get him elected. What can we expect if he wins? Four more years of George Bush. He's a company man too. What else could anyone ever expect? No surprises. We know what we're getting. The only question is whether "the people" will be fooled again. It's a close call.

This is troubling, if true, but not surprising, since McCain has hired lobbyists as top campaign advisors and had problems such as the Keating Five in the past.

Sen. McCain is a military man, yet the only military presence that I was aware of was the NJROTC cadets... Are there any pictures of them with him?

Is the Willard Hotel named after the rat?

When I want to make sure a letter gets into a person's hands, I send it certified mail and pay the extra dollar fifteen to get the addressee's signature on it.

Campaign Finance Reform

If now is the time for change, then cleaning special interest money out of the political process would be a great place to start. The American people deserve a system designed to prevent glorified bribery and betrayal of the public interest; not one that encourages and rewards them. Any candidate sincerely committed to change should speak out loud and clear for publicly funded campaigns. And, he or she should condemn the arrogance of legislators who systematically sabotage and block any substantial effort to institute real campaign finance reform. Most importantly, candidates need to match words with action by coming clean about all their finances.
