McCain has been bought and paid for by big oil

What happened to the "maverick"? Where'd he go??? I guess he's seen the light. Ever since he wanted to be president, he needed to learn who really runs the GOP. It's truely the party of the powerful. So McCain, desperate to win, is pandering to anyone and everyone who will get him elected. What can we expect if he wins? Four more years of George Bush. He's a company man too. What else could anyone ever expect? No surprises. We know what we're getting. The only question is whether "the people" will be fooled again. It's a close call.

The FEC must retain it's integrity and not be made too weak to continue to do the work it is designed for. Additionally, Bush and rogues have already put too many right-wing conservatives on the bench. This must stop.

Dean wowed the faithful in

Dean wowed the faithful in '04 with his Web-based fund-raising magic. But major business donors still count, and in his new role as party honcho, the feisty doctor seems to be struggling to connect. After achieving money parity with the GOP in 2004, Democrats have fallen far behind. According to the Federal Election Commission, the DNC raised $14.1 million in the first quarter of 2005, vs. the Republican National Committee's $32.3 million. Dean drew about 20,000 new donors, while his rivals picked up 68,200. The bottom line: Republicans have $26.2 million in the bank vs. $7.2 million for the Dems... Personality factors aside, Dean's business-bashing '04 campaign makes him a hard sell in corporate circles. "There's a wait-and-see attitude from business and major contributors," says Nathan Landow, a Maryland developer and big-time donor. "This guy has some work to do to get the comfort level up." William W. Batoff, a Philadelphia real estate developer and longtime Democratic fund-raiser who backed President Bush in 2000 and 2004, is less diplomatic. "Howard Dean is the wrong person to be chair," says Batoff, who claims he will help fund the Dems' congressional efforts but will boycott the national committee while Dean reigns.

Why I like Ron Paul

The discussion here is the reason why I like Ron Paul. I am not TOTally sure about him as a president but what I am sure of is that he has the virtue we need in a leader right now.
Your not going to find this kind of mishandling of funds on his campaign.

Voter Concern

Mitch has really never put much into voter concern so this issue wouldn't be an exception. As Bush alienates himself more from the American voters (considering he isn't running for reelection) and Mitch continues to march lockstep (i.e. SCHIP), I'm hoping to see his approval rating drop. Time will tell. Andy

lobby money

1. Do not allow any non-constituent to communicate in any way with any sitting congress person while congress is in session. They need to be held in sequester like a sequestered jury.

2. Take all money out of the electoral process by mandating so much media time / space in each media that the public begins to rebel against the ads no matter what their content, this time / space in granted gratis as a part of license.

Please get involved with just6dollars.com which is supported by ex-Senator Bill Bradley and others. It would allow lobby and pac free elections with just 6 dollars from each voter.

I agree with the commenter, above. And I might be inclined to answer an employer with, "I prefer to keep my contributions and politics private. It causes too much commotion in my family."

Inevitability

It's part of the problem of money and politics, that "aura of inevitability" that the candidate who raises the most corporate dollars will win the nomination and/or win office. Its effect on voters is detrimental and can't be overlooked if we hope to engage American voters again, and return influence to them.

If money is what motivates polticians, then more of it should come from public funding, the voters themselves.
