Elections Change: MD/VA cultures affect national Change

I believe the 50 states are looking to federal activity providing the legislative initiative in cleaning up elctuions everywhere. I also believe due to its location, that the DC capitol and the federal decison making process is permeated by Tradtionalistic Maryland/Virginia poltical cultures, that makes legislation/change slow and very incremental, for other states nationwide. Washington reigns in the other states who want more agressive change, by perpetuating and imposing this formal, old fashioned, MD/VA way of doing things onto Congressional procedures affecting all Americans.

CLEAN ELECTIONS

Katie,
clean elections is a nice platitude. However, as long as one group is trying to gain power over the other, there will always be dirty money, bloody money and drug money that creep into the collection baskets from the underworld leaders trying to gain influence. On the other side along with welfare checks, pension checks, union dues, big fat contributors, religious leaders trying to gain influence over society by convincing their congregations that God stands on one side or the other and always against the opossing team. The saddness is that while we talk democracy to the world, our leaders are willing to lie, cheat, steal and maybe even kill to gain power over the people for themselves and their friends. Every election cycle people are being disinfranchised. Under Saddam we called it dictatorship, here we call it democracy, another name for WIN AT ANY COST.

Clean Elections Financing

Dear Senator Clinton,

I am glad to hear you are in support of public financing of elections. However, I notice that you are only in support of this after you have spent the money you have raised in your presidential bid. I do hope that if you are successful in your efforts that you will not be overly influenced by the Hollywood circus that has given you so much. They have no clue how most of us live and what we would like to see our great nation achieve.
Sincerely, Mary Carter

Public financing of campaigns

Dear Senator Clinton,

I am so glad you would support public financing of campaigns. It has worked so well in Arizona and Maine for 4 elections.

It would keep politicians from spending so much time raising money and they could spend that time working to come up with ideas that help make America a better place for all Americans.

Every year more and more money needs to be raised by candidates. I think public financing is the best way change the current system so that politicians can win elections because they have the best ideas.

Good Luck.

If you have someone pay your election, then you owe them when you are in office, whether you agree with thier motives or not. Therefore, all elections should be free.
