The amount of money needed to participate and to win an election is obscene. If totaled, the amount raised by our presidential candidates alone would fund better education, health care, and food for those living at or below poverty.

It should not be necessary for our officials to spend their time panhandling, selling out to the highest bidder, or jumping into bed with the enemy just to get elected.

A much more fair system is affording each candidate a certain amount of free air time, free press space and some needed travel funds---all from public funds.

Campaigning has become a big business driving the beltway parade. Americans deserve better. The world deserves better.

Our politicians need to be freed so they can actually do the job they were elected to do--maintain a safe and sane America.

Public Financing of Campaigns

Bravo to this creative citizen candidate!

If we all knew how much it costs us, how bloody expensive it is to let big bucks people get "our" representatives elected, we'd realize how much cheaper it would be to finance our candidates' campaigns. Then we might acually be able to expect them to work for us! (See lots of our military spending, lots of so-called homeland security spending ((the new cash cow on the block)), and narrow focus earmarks seriously unrelated to the common good.)
