Intern: Research Department
Connecting the dots between campaign contributions and legislation is a tricky task, as is successfully holding elected officials accountable for their favors on behalf of campaign contributors. Learn how to do just that this summer as part of the Research team at Campaign Money Watch, a leading national organization working to put the issue of money in politics center stage during election season and hold politicians accountable for doing the bidding of their special interest campaign donors - not their constituents. Campaign Money Watch played an instrumental role in educating the public about the favors that politicians like Rep. Tom DeLay, Rep. Richard Pombo, and Ralph Reed have done on behalf of their biggest campaign contributors and we plan to conduct similar public education campaigns through the 2008 election cycle.
As part of our research team you'll apply your writing, project management, time management and "muckraking" skills while honing your political instincts and learning the tools to create effective advocacy campaigns around the issue of private money in politics. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong interest in electoral politics and progressive campaign finance policy. We ask that you have strong writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a temperament suited to a fast-paced, campaign environment. Experience with databases and data management systems is highly desirable. Time Commitment: 40 hours/week Stipend: $150 per week. To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample of no more than two (2) pages to Kathryn Schlieper at kschlieper@publicampaign.org by April 4, 2008. Please specify the position you are applying for in the subject line of the email. Campaign Money Watch is an equal opportunity employer printer friendly version | 168 reads
