JOB: Online Organizer

Billionaires and corporate interests are taking over our elections. We’re turning into a government of, by, and for the big money interests instead of one that’s of, by, and for the people.

Organizations, reporters, and money-in-politics activists are looking for how to connect-the-dots between the money that flows in politics and the decisions made by elected officials, as well as strategic campaigns to drive the debate into the public domain. With the 2012 elections taking center stage, we’re looking for an ambitious Online Organizer that can drive a money-in-politics message into the political debate online, engage new audiences, and grow our base of supporters.

The bottom-line is this: Want a casual nine-to-five job? Please don’t apply. But if you’re an ambitious, driven professional with a million ideas, even if some of them are crazy, and want to work somewhere that was viewed as a plus, then please keep reading.

Public Campaign Action Fund, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving America's elections and holding politicians accountable, is hiring an Online Organizer to expand our existing, successful accountability work to take advantage of this moment. This is a full-time position located in the organization's Washington, D.C. office.

ABOUT PUBLIC CAMPAIGN ACTION FUND

Since 1997, Public Campaign Action Fund (PCAF) has been a leading national advocate for far-reaching change in the way elections are financed, and has led national and state issue campaigns to pass comprehensive campaign finance legislation. It is the premier national campaign reform group holding elected officials accountable year-round, including during elections, on where they get their money and what they do in exchange, and as such, works with a broad set of issue groups inside and outside the reform community. In the past five years, the organization:

  • Led the campaign to try to pass the Fair Elections Now Act;
  • Coordinated and conducted the campaign against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's corruption;
  • Conducted significant money-in-politics research and communications efforts on major issues such as health care reform, energy, financial reform, tax policy, etc.
  • Exposed Senator John McCain's connections to lobbyists during his GOP presidential bid (let’s discuss); and
  • Has, through its 527 project, conducted million-dollar voter education campaigns in targeted electoral contests.
